02 You can see in the picture above where to park right beside the A702 Dalveen Pass road OS Ref. (NS928094). There is room there for three cars on firm ground. From here you just follow the SUW route indicator through a gate and head up the hill following the fence which will be on your right. That's Well Hill you see in the distance above the car. It tapers from left to right across the picture down Caplaw Rig.
There is a sister walk to this one which also starts from Overfingland - though it heads east along the SUW towards the Daer Reservoir before heading up onto Comb Law, Rodger Law, Ballencleuch Law and Scaw'd Law.
Before starting on today's route up onto Lowther Hill I had gone to get some pictures for the source of the River Clyde web gallery and I took the picture below from the roadside on the way back to Overfingland - I had already passed by this way coming up from Dumfries. I was standing on the bridge over the Potrenick Burn when I took this. That's Lowther Hill with the ball on top and the east shoulder of Cold Moss on the left of the picture. Green Lowther is just showing near the right edge of the picture in the distance. Crooked Bank is the shoulder coming off Lowther and sticking out at us between Lowther and Green Lowther.
