01 The pale blue route in the map above is part of the Southern Upland Way national coast to coast walk. Most people tend to walk this route from west to east - from Portpatrick to Cockburnspath - which would be from left to right across this map. We, however, will park at Overfingland and walk the dark red route from there clockwise. Once you get to Green Lowther there are several possible options open to you for returning to Overfingland:
You could come straight off Green Lowther down the ridge that lies between Lang Cleuch and Riccart Cleuch.
You could do as shown above - go on to Peden Head and down Riccart Law Rig coming off that quite early down into Riccart Cleuch.
You could carry right on down Riccart Law Rig and over Stowgill Dod if you fancied. There is another web gallery on this site which comes down to Peden Head from Duncraig Law, Dun Law, White Law and Lousie Wood Law all of which lie to the north east of it. This route then heads down Riccart Law Rig all the way to Stowgill and Faugh.
Remember that in Scotland you have the right to roam pretty well as you please - so nothing is written in stone as to how you come back to Overfingland but I certainly recommend going up by the SUW - the views are great.
