05 Now we are getting near the
top of Lousie Wood Law and looking ESE we can see the M74 motorway running
south towards Carlisle. The hills you can see in the distance are the Moffat
Hills. You will probably do as I did and wander over that dyke and fence in the picture above to see what else you can see looking east - and below is what you will find, the motorway running north/south, the River Clyde running north, the main west coast railway line, and the village of Elvanfoot. This route into Scotland from the south has been used since the first peoples arrived in Scotland in pre-history and there are several sites of archaeological interest along this north/south corridor. |
