17 Again moving the camera further
to the right from the top of the Merrick we are now looking down Redstone
Rig. You can see how Loch Enoch (on the left) is separated from lochs Arron
and Loch Neldricken by the rocky barrier of Craig Neldricken. Mouseover the picture below to get the names of the hills and the lochs. The red route (lochs route) shown in the map on page 01 comes up by these lochs and then up Redstone Rig. At the bottom of Redstone Rig and some 400 metres to the south west of where it meets Loch Enoch (OS ref NS440843 - his postal code if you like) you will find the Grey Man of the Merrick which as you can see in the third and fourth pictures is a natural rock formation. The fifth picture, taken from the Buchan Ridge and looking up Redstone Rig, shows where to find him - marked by the red asterisk. These pictures were of course taken some years earlier than the day's walk described in the present web gallery. |
