If you have not been to see the Black Watch highlander figurehead which was recovered from a ship called Black Watch that was sunk in a Norwegian fjord during World War 2 it is worth going to see this from here. It is only a couple of minute's walk even on tired legs. It had been nearly 20 years under water. You will see that it was a ship of the Olsen Line and the Forrest Estate here is owned by Fred Olsen - hence the unusual road names in the forest and possibly also the unusual spelling of the word forest.

"In August 1940 Army High Command took over command of the Norwegian Army camp, Dumfries, Scotland. The camp was established in June 1940 and named Norwegian Reception Camp Dumfries."
