03 Before
you start your walk you should head a short distance to the north east
and cross the bridge over the Polharrow Burn that you see in the picture
above. You are heading towards the Forrest Lodge and just at the gate
to the Lodge you will find this unusual figure guarding the entrance.
The story to this figure is a truly remakable one and you will get that
story in the second picture below which is of a plaque placed by the gate.
The estate here is owned by the Fred Olsen Line, as you will also see
in the names given to the forest roads on the map.
Fred Olsen Line still has a cruise ship called Black Watch. |
