The Moffat Hills from White Shank The Moffat Hills from White Shank The Moffat Hills from White Shank

13 These four pictures were taken from the top of White Shank. In the picture above we have the Moffat Hills.
In the second picture we are looking along the face of the ridge we are on towards Crofthead.
The third picture shows the climb that we have ahead of us up from White Shank to Smidhope Hill. The hill that you see beyond our ridge is Loch Fell (not a loch at all but a hill).
As I mentioned earlier, the line from White Shank to Ettrick Pen brings you straight down the face to the gap in the trees (on the left of the fourth picture). You can see that there is a deep gash in the hill to the left of where we will come down. There is also a similar deep gash on Hopetoun Craig to the right of the picture.
