12 Above is the view from near the top of White Shank looking back to the big white pudding of Bodesbeck Law and the Moffat hills beyond. As usual in the hills of south west Scotland (so long as you are not on one of the popular route of one of the more popular hills) you get the hills to yourself ninety per cent of the time. The only one I shared this ridge with was Mr Fox. I did not see him but I did follow his tracks all the way to Capel Fell where I began to find some marks in the snow where other humankind had been - but they did not last long.
