08 Here is the trig point at
the top of Broad Law with a wee cairn and a aircraft tracking station. Broad
Law is the second highest hill in the South of Scotland just 10 feet lower
than Merrick. All this paraphernalia around the top helps you to recognise
the hill from all around but it doesn't do much for the place when you are
there, it's not somewhere you would go to be spiritually uplifted and in
touch with nature. Below is a detail of the structure which will have to withstand very strong winds at times up here. The third picture shows the Lowther Hills in the distance from the trig point. We are looking just south of west in that picture. |
