16 Making our way back to Rockcliffe we go back the way we came along the shingle beaches that we were on after crossing from Rough Island. In the picture we are almost back into Rockcliffe and you can see back in a situation where there are houses on one side on the road and garden by the sea on the other.
The picture below shows the view across one of these gardens towards the sandy beach in the centre of Rockcliffe with Screel and Bengairn in the distance - quite a special place to stay.
The third picture gives another view past flowering Magnolia (on the left of the picture) to this same beach. It is scarcely surprising that this is one of the three National Scenic Areas in Dumfries and Galloway.
