11 From the cairn I headed east
to get off Rough Island and once you leave the main tracks you find that
the island lives up to its name. There were some interesting rock formations
on the shore but getting there through thorns and brambles was also "interesting". In the second picture as we get down to the mud we start going in up to the ankles and the suction on your feet can easily unbalance you if you are not ready for it. It is not much fun falling in that stuff. In the third picture you can see I made quite an impression as I crossed the mud. You soon get past this sticky oose and the crossing of Rough Firth is then relatively easy until you get near the shore on the other side. |
