09 Above is the view across to Green Lowther from Cold Moss and below I have swung the camera a bit further to the right to look along the tops of the chain of hills running from Green Lowther east over to Elvanfoot. The dark line of trees in the distance lies east of (and therefore beyond) the Annan/Clyde corridor which carries the M74 and the main west coast rail line north from Carlisle to Glasgow. The hills that you see beyond that are the Culters. Annandale separates the Lowther Hills from the Moffat Hills at the southern end of the corridor and Clydesdale separates the Lowthers from the Culters to the north. The River Annan runs south to the Solway Firth and the Clyde runs north and west through Glasgow onto Scotland's west coast in the Firth of Clyde. | |||||
