18 Now we are heading from the top of Ballencleuch Law towards Scaw'd Law. "Scaw'd" in Scots means scorched or scalded - it is hardly either of these today. The Solway Firth lies beyond and to the left of Scaw'd Law in this picture and the Scaur Hills lie to the right.
In the picture below I have zoomed in for a closer look at Cairnkinna - just left of centre in the picture. Cairnsmore of Carsphairn, Moorbrock and Benniner lie vertically above Cairnkinna in the distance.
