32 Here we are approaching
the mouth of Glen Valentine and the old crossroads of old routes which I
mentioned on page 09 as a possible site
of the Covenanter ambush. There is a track just beyond that over the hill
on the left to the farm at Dalveen. Going to the right there is also a route
up the Auchenlone Burn to Mennock Pass. So you can see that there are plenty
of interesting corners here to hide in and fall on anyone passing the junction. This is also where we met the friendly lamb - down to the right by the burn where you can see the ewes and their lambs. Our route is up that track straight ahead onto the hill. The picture on page 33 is taken from there looking back this way. |
