11 In this picture we are nearer the top of Thirstane and with the wider angle we can clearly see how the route we have come from where the car is parked is along a low ridge which rises between the valley of the Enterkin Burn, to the right of it here, and the Dalveen Pass to the left of it. Black Hill is on the left of the picture with the dark face of Pettylung facing us - on the far side of the Dalveen Pass.
