04 The Dalveen Pass snakes it's way up the A702 from Carronbridge to Elvanfoot between some very impressively shaped hills - the Lowthers (on the left) and Durisdeer hills (on the right). Steygail (pronounced locally something like Steygyle) is on the left of this picture - it is very shapely no matter which direction you see it from. The shoulder jutting in from the right of the picture is Pettylung - a shoulder of Black Hill which is 531 mts high. Steygail is 572 mts high. They are not the highest hills even for the south of Scotland (where there are no Munros) but they are shapely. | |||||
