09 Here we are at the trig
point on Millfore looking up the Silver Flowe with the three ranges of the
Galloway Hills to keep it company. In the second picture I have swung the camera to the left (west) a bit, Merrick is just right of centre and you can see the long sweep down to the south from it to Benyellary along what is called the Nieve of the Spit. The tourist route onto the Merrick goes that way. In the third picture we are looking due south (into the sun!) towards Cairnsmore of Fleet and Wigtown Bay in the Solway Firth. The route onto Cairnsmore of Fleet from Murray's Monument runs up that shoulder of Craignelder that you see by the left side of the picture. |
