02 The picture above was taken as I drove in the 8 kilometres from the A713 (Castle Douglas to Ayr) road to the parking place in the Forrest Estate to start my day's walk. That's Polmaddy Gairy with the line of snow on it and North Gairy lies to the left (south) of it. At this stage of the day I was hopeful of getting a better day than I had had on 18th March - the tops looked clear enough and the forecast wasn't bad
Below is the car park (OS Ref. NX552863). The information board on the left has the map I have already mentioned on it. The track that you see going to the left into the picture is the direction we are going. Mouseover to zoom in to the two signs on the right of this picture.
