16 Where we meet the A708 there are a couple
of interesting things to see - the old AA box and the war memorial. It is
hard to believe that so many soldiers from this area died in the First World
War. There must have been a bigger population around here in those days. It is also interesting that the five soldiers who died were spread over four regiments - the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (2), the Royal Scots, the King's Own Scottish Borderers and the Black Watch - as you can see in the third picture. I wonder what the story is to that in a land where there is a story to everything. |
