16 Now it is 13.09 and we are at the cairn and trig point on the top of Hartfell. The bright horizontal line you see is the Solway Firth just beyond Dumfries and the dark hill to the right of the Solway is Criffel.
The second picture shows the view south from Hartfell. You could follow the fence but you would not get the views down into Blackhope Glen from there. So it is much more interesting to head back over to the top of the Craigs and catch the views from the edge as you follow the ridge down to Black Craig.
