07 The views on this page are all from the
top of Chapelgill Hill. In the one above we are looking north to Cardon
Hill (at the right edge of the picture). The purple route on page
01 would take you along there. In the second picture we are looking SW to Culter Fell and you can see that there is quite a long saddle between Chapelgill and Culter Fell (called King Bank Head). Chapelgill Hill has also quite a broad top which descends gently in a north westerly direction towards a fence which is the county boundary between Borders and Strathclyde and which in turn runs right up and over Culter Fell. As you head along the top of Chapelgill you have the deep cleuch of Hope Burn on you left as you can see in the third picture where we are looking over the Hope Burn cleuch to Culter Fell and Gathersnow Hill (middle of the picture). |
