13 Above is the view from the
trig point looking westward. Shalloch on Minnoch is by the left side of
the picture and you can see Loch Doon in the right half of the picture. There are three Cairnsmores in Galloway and they are all in the picture below - we are on Cairnsmore of Carsphairn - Cairnsmore of Dee is the dark triangular hill to the left of the picture - Cairnsmore of Fleet is the bigger beastie to the right of the picture with it's own collection of hills around it. You can just see Loch Grannoch to the left (east) of Cairnsmore of Fleet and the pale shape of Cairnharrow beyond it and to the left. The third picture was taken as I began to head downhill from the north end of Cairnsmore. I have worked on this picture quite a bit in Photoshop to try to bring out the detail from the haze on what is the Isle of Arran (roughly 40 miles away). |
