03 In the picture above you can see the commemorative slab of granite beside the village hall - notice the pictures on the side of the hall at the top right corner of the picture.
Below are some of the pictures from that display.
The first is probably taken from a crane sitting on the harbour. You can see the village hall (where apparently the sappers slept) by the right edge of the picture. The text accompanying the picture introduces you to the amazing assortment of names used for the various inventions associated with the project - Swiss Rolls, Beetles, Hippos, Crocodiles. Here is a link to a site which will give you much more information about the Mulberry Harbours and the weird menagerie of "creatures" etc. connected with it.
The second picture below shows a "beetle" and the third picture shows how the beetles were used.
