14 In the sister web gallery to this one we discussed the possible sites for the ambush laid by the Harknesses of Mitchellslacks on the party of Dragoons taking Covenanter prisoners to Edinburgh in the late 17th century. You can see in these two pictures how easy it would be to hide a group of men at the mouth of this wee offshoot valley ready for the ambush on the bridle path below.
That's the bridle path (beyond Dunkie) running across the main valley of the Enterkin Burn in the picture below. Perhaps this is exactly where the Harnesses hid.
