View of Craignaw, the Round Loch of the Dungeon and the Long Loch of the Dungeon View of Craignaw, the Round Loch of the Dungeon and the Long Loch of the Dungeon View of Craignaw, the Round Loch of the Dungeon and the Long Loch of the Dungeon
31 Here we have Craignaw, the Round Loch of the Dungeon and the Long Loch behind it with the Nick of the Dungeon running up to the right. On the way back I skirted to the left of the Round Loch keeping close to the woods that you can just see on the left.
It had taken us two and a half hours to get from where we parked to the Long Loch of the Dungeon, though we had made one abortive attempt to get through the felled trees onto the Silver Flowe before we found the firebreak that we used, and we had also had a good chat to the Forest Ranger in the van, plus of course we took time to enjoy the Silver Flowe itself.
From the time I left Sandy (after our piece) and started heading up the Nick of the Dungeon to the time of taking the above picture was just over 2 hours.
It took 45 minutes from taking the above picture to getting back to the forest road near Backhill of Bush.
And it took us an hour and ten minutes from Backhill of Bush back to the car.
The whole day's walk was just under 7 hours.
These details come from the camera putting times on the pictures and I mention them just to give you some idea of timescales.
We were not racing! Remember also that I take loads of pictures on these walks which adds to the time taken for the route.
