04 Here we are at the point where we join the Southern Upland Way - which now takes us west up along the front of these trees from left to right across the picture. The structure that you see in the foreground is a bridge over the Glenhead Burn. It is possible to get across the burn before this point but you get into boggy ground once you are across and it is really not worth trying to save half a mile or so.
Southern Upland Way information board

There is an information board beside the bridge which explains how there are 2 alternative ways to do the Southern Upland Way from this point (Glenhead).

As I headed west along the Southern Upland Way when I had come off the hills at the end of the day I decided to take the bicycle route back to Glentrool - feeling that I had been on enough rough ground for the day and that I would make better speed on the bicycle track rather than the walking route.

In the pictures below I have zoomed in on the important parts of the sign so that you can read them for yourself. Notice the fly beside the words "Trostan Burn".
