13 Because these hills are
really just huge lumps of granite with the merest coating of vegetation
on top, rainwater has no way of escaping into the ground and there are plenty
of small pools like this one above all over the Dungeon Hills. That's the
Minnigaff Hills that we see in profile to the south with Curleywee on the
left, Lamachan the highest top and Mulldonoch on the right. Bennabrack is
the wee dump you see just left of Lamachan and there is a very nice ridge
down from there to Curleywee. Below is a view over the same pool looking north to Craignaw - granite outcrops, pools and boulders everywhere. Craignaw is not the highest hill in the area but I would say it is the most interesting. |
