| 05 Here we are looking due south from Chapelgill up to the head of the valley of Holms Water. The house that you see is called Holms Waterhead and the big dark beastie at the head of the valley is Gathersnow Hill. The shoulder going over to it from the right is the shoulder of Culter Fell which we will come down to get onto Gathersnow. Glenlood Hill is on the left of the picture and on my return leg I descended pretty well down the line of the straight edge of shadow that you see in the picture above to where the rough road crosses Holms Water. | |||||
