11 Above we are approaching the old house and below are pictures of it. The Solway coast was a busy place in the days of the smuggling and on the wall facing the sea a window has been blanked out with stone to prevent the residents signaling to the smugglers. Much of the community was supportive of the smugglers - even the occasional Church of Scotland minister.
