18 Heading back for the fishermen's hut you can see that if I wanted to keep dry feet I could not have left it much later to make the crossing of Auchencairn Bay. This picture was taken at 11.36. The fishermen reckoned that I had got the timing about perfect. Remember that low tide was supposed to be 10.15. I got that time from the internet but my local tide table which only gives times and heights for high tides said that the previous high tide was 4.40 am - which would have put low tide nearer to eleven o'clock. Life is a bit simpler on the hills with no tides to worry about but this had been just a taster for me and I will be back.
In the final picture I am almost back on shore again.
