11 Here we are at Burrow Head campsite looking back along the route we have come. The campsite is on a WW2 military camp and is not therefore in itself all that pretty. You can see how rocky this stretch of coastline is and how many small bays there are. The cliffs are not particularly awesome or spectacular in height but they are fascinating nevertheless. The whole area has a warm friendly welcoming feeling to it especially on a hot July day when the haze softens everything and the wild flowers abound.
The cliffs are perhaps more impressive east of Burrow Head than west of it as you can see in the picture below where we are near the "Devil's Bridge" looking back westward towards Burrow Head. The rocks here are indicative of the forces of nature which created these sculptures on such a grand scale.
The path from Burrow Head has recently had some work done on it to encourage people to walk this stretch. If you did not fancy the 6 hour walk from Physgill to Isle of Whithorn and back, you could park at Burrow Head and walk from there to the Isle of Whithorn which would probably take you down to about 4 hours or less.
