21 As we come round by Sliddery Point we get our first view of Cruggleton Castle. As you can see this is the highest point in the walk and hence the reason why the castle was built where it is, both for the difficulty it presented for anyone trying to attack it from the seaward and for the view it commands over Wigtown Bay as you will see in the following pages.
