11 The path does not take you out to Eggerness Point though I suppose you could go there if you really want to fight your way through the undergrowth. Once out of the trees you walk along the edge of the fields as in the picture above. The highest hill that you see on the far shore of Wigtown Bay is called Cairnharrow. The vegetation here is, as I have said, much more luxuriant than I am used to finding on the hill tops I usually frequent around the south west of Scotland. I have begun to take more notice of the plants I find wherever I go. I photograph them and then when I get home try to work out what they are. I am no authority on plant life and I find the sheer numbers of different plants that there are quite mind blowing. It must be a life's work just to have a thorough knowledge of nothing else but wild flowers in all their different forms - but you have to start somewhere, and when you look closely at them they offer so much visual interest. So just join me in looking and hopefully, learning - as far as I am concerned anyway. This plant below grows to around a metre in height and I wonder if it could be a Lesser Burdock or Wood Burdock perhaps.
