08 Nearing the top of the High Street we can see the unusual tower that stands at the junction with Ann Street.
The second picture shows the view looking west back down the High Street we have just come up.
Near the head of the High Street we get a view to the north (on our left) into Church Street. Notice that the weather vein has a "Belted Gallow" instead of a weather cock.
The name of the shop is also interesting with a reference to the words of Robert Burns from the last verse of the poem "To a Louse"

O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
It wad frae mony a blunder free us,
An' foolish notion:
What airs in dress an' gait wad lea'e us,
An' ev'n devotion!
