Walk from Carrick Shore to Gatehouse of Fleet

were taken on 3rd May 2006 and they are part of the walk (a map of which
is shown below) which we did that day from Carrick Shore going over to
Ardwall Island and then walking up to Gatehouse of Fleet and back to Carrick.

As you can see in the picture above, when we arrived at Carrick Shore to start this walk the tide was well out and we were able to walk out to Ardwall Island. After that we were able to walk on the sands over the mouth of the bays which would later be filled with water as we headed north east up the Water of Fleet estuary. Mouseover the map to bring the tide in and see what a difference it makes. In this picture we are passing the mouth of Carrick Bay. You can see the chalets which line the shore hereabouts. |
