13 From the top of Middle Hill (which is over 710 metres high) we get this view down the southern and heavily wooded side of Hopecarton Burn valley. Taberon is on the left of the picture and Craig Head is at the far end of the ridge which runs from left to right across and into the picture from it - and which we have just walked up. Our old friends Worm Hill and the Culters are beyond. Just to the right of the Culters, keeking out from behind Cardon Hill, Tinto Hill is just beginning to appear. Gathersnow Hill is immediately above Taberon.
In the picture below we see the ridge (that we will return to Stanhope by) running down the norther side of the Hopecarton Burn valley. The big dark hill in the right foreground is Drumelzier Law.
But we want to go over to Long Grain Knowe first and take the Thief's Road up onto Pykestone Hill before we come back and go down this ridge.
