19 We are over the bridge here and heading up alongside the dyke and the burn that we saw from White Knowe. Our route lies along the tops of the dark hills coming in from the left of the picture. I had set off around 11am in brilliant sunshine. Now around 1pm the grey clouds had built up but the sun was still getting through in places so you get the patchwork of bright colour and deep shadow. I wasn't back to the car until nearly 4.30. I had had to wait a few times for the sun to illuminate details in the landscape for my pictures. If you were pushing on hard you could probably do the whole route in little over 4 hours. There are no long or high ascents and the going is easy on paths most of the time - if you want.
