02 Here we are heading west through the village of Penpont with the distinctive shape of Tynron Doon showing above the houses in the left half of the picture. You will turn right off the A702 just west of Penpont. There is a story of James IV having his shoes repaired in Penpont while on his way on a pilgrimage to Whithorn. It would be fascinating to be able to go back in time and see him and his retinue come past here.
