Where to park when coming in from Moorbrock to Cairnsmore of Carsphairn Where to park when coming in from Moorbrock to Cairnsmore of Carsphairn Where to park when coming in from Moorbrock to Cairnsmore of Carsphairn

25 This is a view looking ESE down towards where you would park at Moorbrock if you were going to do the red route shown on page 01 On that route returning to where the car is parked would involve making your way from Beninner down to the large wood which comes in from the right of the picture and following the burn down to Moorbrock. It is little frequented and hard going around the burn. For other routes from the Moorbrock area which avoid this last section see Beninner, Cairnsmore of Carphairn and Moorbrock web gallery.
Below I have zoomed in on the central area of the above picture to show where you would park near Moorbrock House. Near the top of the picture below you can see a road running across the picture. This is the road which runs to a dead end at Lorg. It comes up from the Moniaive to Carsphairn road (B729) and starts at OS ref. NX633918 on that road. Near the left edge of the picture you can see the road which comes up from the Lorg road to Moorbrock. All three of these roads are single track - minor roads off minor roads! In the picture below (near the left edge) you can also see the track which leaves Moorbrock House to go up onto the hill itself, and which you would use on the red route.
