20 Now were we are near Brock's Holes looking back north eastward towards Rascarrel and Big Aird Hill. We had followed the beach track along to the huts beside this little beach but there were now rocks ahead of us beyond the beach, so we went up onto the main path which runs from Rascarrel to Barlocco.
However all is not so idyllic as it may seem in this picture. The huts shown here were the subject of an extended legal wrangle between the landlord and the people who have used these huts for generations - the outcome of which is that as of 27th April 2007 the huts will soon be demolished.
The first picture below shows this same scene in February 2013 with the huts long since gone and the construction of chalets now under way. You are not supposed to walk along to Barlocco Bay from Rascarrel while this work is going on.
Below that is an article from the Dumfries Courier from 2007 about the legal battle to save the huts.
