19 Full scale models of some of the medieval siege engines are on display and there is a video presentation telling the story of the siege by Edward the First in 1300. During the summer months there is also a good tearoom with home baking. It is very pleasant indeed to take your snack out to one of the picnic benches on a warm day (see picture 27). For all the violence that the place has seen there is now a air of great peace about the place - which as I have said is so well maintained by Historic Scotland.

After having your snack you can visit the inside of the castle and walk back by the route you have come or continue on northwards towards Wardlaw through the arch that you see above.
