32 From the Buchan Ridge looking SW towards Bennan. It is possible to come down that valley below (of the Buchan Burn) instead of coming along the top of the Buchan Ridge. I had to do that a few years ago when I tore the ligaments in my right knee in a well hidden hole that I did not see near Loch Enoch. The tourist route onto the Merrick from Loch Trool runs through the trees from left to right across the picture below Bennan, but you can also go up over Bennan of course if you fancy.
