09 Here we are at the top of Arthur's Seat. You can see that there is a well-defined quod bike track to lead you down off the hill. The shoulder on the left of the picture which is catching the sunlight is the one we came up earlier in the day onto Blue Cairn and hence to Swatte Fell. The hill in the distance vertically above the patch of sunlight is Queensberry and the range of hills to the right of that is the Durisdeer Hills.
In the second picture we are now well down off Arthur's Seat and about to start descending the scree down to Hartfell Spa. We are looking straight down the Auchencat Burn and you can see the track we will take above the right bank of the burn to get back to the hut where we started. Queensberry and the Durisdeer hills are in the distance. Annandale is running from right to left across the picture down in the valley and the line of the A701 can be seen just this side of the tree line above Annandale as it heads upwards to Annanhead above the Devil's Beef Tub.
Just above the scree run on Arthur's Seat.
